Pores Be Gone? Neutrogena Pore Refining Review
It’s about to get really personal in here. I’m ready to let you go where I’ve never let anyone go before—all up in my pores. Yes, my pores! Neutrogena sent me their Pore Refining collection and I wanted to test it out. For seven days straight, I used it daily. Did my pores get smaller? Did my skin get any smoother?
My skin has always been an issue for me. From my days of acne as a teen, oily skin as a young adult, and now a really interesting combination type skin that I just don’t understand. It’s so confusing!
But, one thing that stays constant are the large pores I have in the area between my cheeks and my nose. I feel like I’ve had these forever. Can you relate yet? Let’s get to the collection.
According to Neutrogena, the dermatologist tested formula should shrink the look of large pores, giving you younger looking skin. It claims to first penetrate deep into the skin to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. All the yucky stuff that can clog and enlarge our pores. Then, it will sweep away the dead surface skin, and smooth the rough/uneven patches to tighten the large pores.
As you’ll see in the before picture (right), I have those large pores they’re talking about. So, I decided to try out the collection for one week. Here was my routine:
Every morning I would cleanse my face with the Pore Refining cleanser. Alternating every other day. One day it was the daily cleanser, the next day it was the exfoliating cleanser, and so on. If you have sensitive skin, I was advised by a Neutrogena dermatologist to only use the exfoliating cleanser once a week. My skin was not irritated by this regimen.
Then, I would apply the toner daily, as directed on the bottle. It left my skin feeling cool and refreshed.
I would moisturize daily, after the initial wash with Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. In the evening, I would remove all of my makeup with the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes and apply Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Night Moisturizer.
This was my routine for one week—seven days.
Note: I took these photos using my iPhone5 in natural light. I only altered the color of the photo, nothing else.
As for the results, just take a look at the image (right). You will notice that pores were minimized and my skin did feel a little smoother. Nothing too dramatic in the smoothing department.
I will be honest, the smaller pores weren’t something that was immediately noticed. Especially, to the naked eye. It took comparing the photos side by side to see the difference. Regardless, I think it’s pretty awesome. Especially after using for only seven days.
What do you think? Do you deal with large pores? What do you do to minimize them?
