Finding My Inner Strength

Losing a loved one is never easy. Never. Last week, my grandpa passed away. He was a loving, funny, hardworking, and amazing man. Losing him has not only hit our family hard, but it’s kind of left me in a weakened state. I’m not sure if it’s the guilt of not visiting him enough, watching his battle in the hospital, or a combination of both. I do know I’ve had to search hard, high, and low for my inner strength.

10277891_10152363325636885_7639752142801093826_nYes, it’s true that inner strength comes from our own will. Whenever we’re in a discouraging or doubtful place, we reach deep down inside grasping for help. No matter what’s going on in our lives; whether it’s the passing of someone we love, losing a job, dealing with a broken heart, or just feeling broken down—our inner strength is there. I realize that we’re all human and sometimes it’s hard to find.

I’ve been there many times, but I’ve realized along the way that my inner strength not only comes from my own will and heart, but it also comes from the support that my family and friends have selflessly given me. I am beyond grateful for them and blessed to have them in my life. They are a reminder that I’m not alone in this.

To them, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Whether it was a phone call, a text message, a photo comment, flowers on my doorstep, offering prayers, an email, or a hug—you have helped me during this time more than you know.

I want you to know, that no matter what you’re going through in life, whenever you’re searching for that inner strength—do not be afraid to lean on those who love you and are offering their support. Nothing is too small or too big. Life isn’t perfect, we’re all going to have difficult moments, just know your inner strength is there…in more than one form.

  • I’m so sorry for your loss, amiga. I felt and often still feel the same way about my mom. But at the same time, I remember how strong and confident I am because of her. Big hugs! Besos.

Thank you Carol and big hugs back at you! xo

  • I think one of the most wonderful parts about family is that a part of you lives on through your children and grandchildren. I know the pain of loss, but in the moments when you find yourself thinking “this is something I do like my grandfather” — he is there. A part of him will live on through you. I’m sorry for you loss and I’m sending you e-hugs, amiga.

Thank you Jay and it’s so true! My love of animals comes from him and it’s something I hope to pass on to my kids one day. 🙂

Thank you Jane. He was the cutest grandpa ever 🙂
