I’ve always been a fan of fashion that helps others and makes a difference. Today, I learned about Bené and I knew had to share them with you. Created by Michelle Blue and Sasha Matthews, they not only offer customizable scarves, but they are creating educational opportunities that empower girls in Ghana.
Losing a loved one is never easy. Never. Last week, my grandpa passed away. He was a loving, funny, hardworking, and amazing man. Losing him has not only hit our family hard, but it’s kind of left me in a weakened state. I’m not sure if it’s the guilt of not visiting him enough, watching his battle in the hospital, or a combination of both. I do know I’ve had to search hard, high, and low for my inner strength.
My blog post was written as part of my collaboration with eBay.
The countdown to Mother’s Day is on and I think it might be time to start shopping for her gift. She used to be a little hard to shop for. Well…kind of. I’ve always known that her favorite color is red and that she loves the bling and sparkle of jewelry. But, there’s always a need to find her that perfect Mother’s Day gift. Even though I know she’ll love whatever I decide to give her.
Wow! It’s been a while since my last Curvy Girl Travels post. Sorry about that! There’s only one way I know how to make it up to you…that’s with a super cool giveaway courtesy of Mary Kay of course! I’m also going to pass on a few of my favorite travel beauty tips…which I’ve been using a lot lately. Hopefully, you can use them for your upcoming spring and summer travels.
Ever since I was a little girl, choosing a dress to wear on Easter Sunday was kind of a big deal. Whether it was frilly and floral or simply chic, my mom always set aside some money for a my dress. Now, that I’m all grown up, I still make sure I have something special to wear on this day. This year, I set aside a dress that Lane Bryant sent me from their Lane Collection.

Oh…designer sunglasses, I want you all. You’re so chic and perfect for this spring and summer. But, then I see your price tag and the love affair is partly over. I still want you, but then I go searching the internet for a more inexpensive brand in the same style. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this. Am I alone?
Let’s be honest, when was the last time you thought about scalp care? I’ll admit I rarely give my own scalp any thought and how to properly take care of it. It’s not something that a lot of people talk about either and it’s really only a problem when you’re having issues. Well, we’re not going to remain clueless around here anymore. I reached out to Neutrogena® Dermatologist Dr. Leyda Bowes, for a few essential tips for a healthy scalp.
I came across an old photo the other day at my dad’s house. I’m about 18 or 19-years-old and probably weigh a good 120 pounds. I specifically remember this photo, where it was taken, and how I felt about my body at the time. Of course, I thought I was fat. When I looked at myself in the mirror, my eyes went immediately to my acne scars, round tummy, and ugly legs. I hated so many things about myself. I wish I could go back and tell my young self how beautiful I was. My perception of beauty was definitely screwed up.
For some odd reason, people seem to think that those of us who wear plus sizes can’t wear crop tops. Ummm…wrong! Yes, it’s consider a more daring fashion statement, but anyone can wear one—no matter their size. The only problem we may have is finding plus size crop tops that are stylish. There’s no need to worry, you know I wouldn’t leave you hanging like that.
It’s about to get really personal in here. I’m ready to let you go where I’ve never let anyone go before—all up in my pores. Yes, my pores! Neutrogena sent me their Pore Refining collection and I wanted to test it out. For seven days straight, I used it daily. Did my pores get smaller? Did my skin get any smoother?
I have a thing for maxi skirts. I adore them. I really want to wear them every single day. And they’re perfect for the spring and summer weather. I love them in all colors, prints, and super long! So, when a fellow blogger friend Jayka of Wacky Little House asked me how I style them, I couldn’t wait to share. Here are MY three favorite ways to style a maxi skirt.
I love the saying “Go big or go home.” It really is a testament to the measures we are willing to go to, to achieve what we want. You either do what you have to do, or just go home. It’s that simple. And that can pretty much go for anything in your life. But, what about your hair?
