My apologies if you’re still battling winter. Believe me, I want you all to enjoy blooming flowers and sunny days. So, in my attempt to wake up your spring senses, I wanted to introduce you to some of my favorite up-and-coming spring accessory trends. All with the help of stylist Angie Escamilla.
If you’ve been following me on any of my social media sites over the past few days, you may have have noticed that I was in the Dominican Republic on a press trip with Mary Kay. During the trip, I had a chance to chat with Angie and photograph some of the accessories she brought with her. Yes, I wanted them all. Don’t I always?
Accessories play such a huge part in my fashion life. Without them, I have a feeling my outfits wouldn’t reflect my style. Besides, they’re universal and don’t see size. That’s why I love them so much! Angie and I chatted about four spring accessory trends we can’t wait to wear!
I’ve always had a thing for shoes that stand out. And it looks like it’s time for me to add the metallic shoe to this list. Angie especially loves the metallic loafer, that you see in the photo below. She recommends styling it with something like skinny jeans and a flowy shirt. Or even trying it with a simple chiffon dress. Nothing with a print, because she wants the shoe to stand out.
You don’t have to tell me twice about statement jewelry. It’s one of my favorites! Angie had a great selection of pieces that caught my eye. Especially, the beautiful colored gemstones. She mentioned that pastel colors, chunky pearls, and stacking your necklaces is also on trend. But, she made sure to point out that she would only wear a pair of statement earrings or a statement necklace, not both at the same time.
Bring on the retro style sunglasses! You’ve probably seen this round style everywhere. I know I have and it’s really chic. Angie said to be on the look out for the cat eye style as well. Her favorite spring colors for sunglasses are pastels, white — and even the clear, but colorful plastic frames are in!
I adore scarves! You know I do. And nothing say’s spring like a light and colorful scarf. I’m all over this trend, probably because of it’s versatility. They can be styled tons of ways too. Don’t forget you can wear them as a hair accessory as well. Angie said to be on the lookout for scarves in a range of colors like pastels, flourescents, florals, and even ethnic prints — especially those of from the Latin culture.
