October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month ladies! And although it’s honored this month, awareness should last a lifetime. Unfortunately, my aunt lost her battle to this horrible disease when I was 19-years-old. She was the most vibrant, loving, and beautiful person, inside and out. I remember her always making us laugh and she was definitely a feisty woman!
The odds are you or someone you know has been affected by this horrible disease. And although they are still working on a cure, you can start the fight at home. Your health and life is so important!! I wrote “A Little Breast Cancer 101″ last year, to give you some tips. Make sure you read it. Early detection is key!! I can’t stress that enough!!
You can also learn how to perform a Breast Self-Exam here via the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
I also wanted to pass on a great initiative Olga Intimates is doing to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Olga®, a full-figure intimate apparel brand owned by The Warnaco Group, Inc., is proud to announce its partnership with My Hope Chest, a Florida-based national non-profit organization that provides breast reconstruction for uninsured and under-insured breast cancer survivors. For the duration of October, Olga® will house an application on its Facebook page in which users can create unique panels to add to a Virtual Quilt, and for every panel created $1.00 will be donated to My Hope Chest. For approximately every $10,000 My Hope Chest collects, they pay for the reconstruction surgery of a breast cancer survivor.
Of course there are a lot of other great organizations doing their part as well. Click Here to find a list on the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website.
Here’s where the giveaway comes in. Every week, I will be purchasing and giving away an item from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure shop. That’s four winners! But, only if you pledge a little something for me.
