Last weekend I was sent to Las Vegas for a blog gig. We rented a Ford Mustang and made the 4 hour drive from Los Angeles. The car actually did pretty good on gas. I was really surprised! We hit a few 112 degree spots in the desert…thank God for air conditioning. Oh…btw…tall people will not like sitting in the back seat. Not very roomy.
Anyways…back to Las Vegas. Now normally, I love this city. I mean…what is there not to like? It’s the city of having fun…literally 24 hours a day fun. But, I will say I’m not a fan of LV during the summer. It’s too flippin’ hot! In case you were wondering, 80 degrees is my max temperature. It was anywhere from 103-108 that weekend. Ugh!
I love the “5 Question” feature on this blog. I think it’s a really great way to get to know someone a little better without dragging on a long interview. Today, I want to introduce you to an amazing model, Monique Robinson. I first met Monique at Full Figured Fashion Week 2011. She immediately stood out to me and rocked that finale runway show! I had to go over and introduce myself after. She is one of my favorite models and of course I love her name…duh! So, If you don’t know who she is…well get to know her, because I know you’ll be seeing a lot more of her!
Hello shoe lovers! This is the last part of my Nina Shoes exclusive. The entire experience was awesome, but I have to say this stood out the most…the archive collection. The archive room was like a shoe museum. As you’ll see below, there is a lot of history with this company that all started in 1953. As fashion changed so did the styles and colors.
Tadashi Shoji designs some of the most luxurious cocktail dresses and gowns you’ll ever see. I was beyond honored when I was asked if I wanted to be included in a style challenge with a group of amazingly beautiful bloggers! I was given the Cutout Jersey Boatneck Cocktail Dress in Black from their new Plus Size Evening Shop and let me tell you how gorgeous this dress is! Stunning! It’s so versataile. And that’s something I hope to show you in this challenge.
So here’s a big surprise…I’m super lazy when it comes to painting my nails. I don’t know why, but it just seems like the whole drying process takes forever with me. And I always dent them or mess them up. I’m kind of a klutz by-the-way. I had a few minutes to spare this weekend when I was in Las Vegas, so I decided to paint them. I used L’Oreal’s Coulour Riche nail lacquer in Club Prive ($5.99). My brother said it reminds him of pistachio ice cream…mmmmm…ice cream. It reminds me of blue cotton candy.
You all know I chopped my hair off and it’s been glorious! I’ve cut my hair prepping time in half. Woot! Woot! Even thought it’s short, I still style it. My straightener and I are best buddies. Yup, we go way back. In fact, my “hair drawer” is filled with styling tools that I’ve had a while. Hmmm…If only there was a tool that would do the job of a straightener/flat iron, and curling iron. There is! And you’re going to get a chance to win a Limited Edition ghd styler!
Phew!! I’ve finally uploaded all of my Full Figured Fashion Week photos to the Curves and Chaos Facebook page! View them here. It felt like it took forever, but it was sooooo worth it! I rediscovered my love for photography and can’t wait to start taking a few classes and investing in equipment. Watching these models walk down the runway, I was so inspired to capture every moment. I’ve gathered a few of my favorite runway images below.
Shoes…shoes…and more shoes. Happy 4th of July!! The summer really is flying by isn’t it? I hope you have a safe holiday! If you’re not already taking advantage of all the sales today, I’ll give you a little more “shoe fever.” Here’s Part II of my Nina Shoes visit in New York City.
We all know that trends come and go…some faster than others. Sometimes quicker than we’d like. So, while I have your attention, here are a few trends I’m loving right now!
I’m a grown woman. One who can make decisions on what I like, don’t like, don’t want to buy, don’t want to buy into, and who I want to be. As a teenager, that was a whole other different story. I was just trying to figure out who I was, where I belonged, and who I wanted to be. I was easily influenced and often mislead by what would make me “popular” or liked by others.
Where are my internet obsessed ladies? If you can’t tell I’m raising my hand. OK…not so much obsessed, but it’s more like a necessity at this point as a blogger. Come on! I have to keep up to date in this social media world! And with all of my flying lately, I can’t stand to sit on an airplane for a few hours without doing something productive.
When it comes to beauty products I’m not afraid to admit I’m no guru. In fact, I feel like a beginner and that’s OK! Who’s with me? You won’t find any tutorials here! LOL! But, I do love to introduce you to products that will not only make you happy, but are easy to use and actually work! Just like these five L’Oreal Paris favorites that have been getting a lot of use lately!
