Full Figured Fashion Week 2012 “Curves In The City” Shopping Event

Who doesn’t love shopping? Really? The Full Figured Fashion Week “Curves In The City” shopping event was pretty much what I needed at this point. I snatched up a beautiful Queen Grace dress for $34! In my world, that’s pretty exciting!

Vendors sold clothes, jewelry, beauty products, and accessories. I even got a bra fitting by Cacique, which you should get every 6 months by-the-way. And don’t get me started on the cake pops I devoured courtesy of MYNT 1792-they definitely have my attention right now.

Of course, I was snapping away…here are more pics!

Full Figured Fashion Week “Curves at Sea” All White Sunset Cruise

As we waited in line to board Full Figured Fashion Week’s “Curves at Sea” All White Sunset Cruise, all I could think of was how beautiful everyone looked. Of course, I was also looking to see how many of these beautiful ladies were wearing the same thing, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were only one or two repeats. Yay! I know it was hard to find what I was going to wear. LOL!

The cruise was so much fun with the Sonsi Photo Booth (that I missed), the swag bags, and the FFFWeek Big and Tall Male Fashion Showcase. The ladies were definitely loving the men! There were giveaways, dancing, and a beautiful view as we cruised around the island of Manhattan.

I snapped a few photos below…I’d love to know what you think! Were you there? Will we see you next year?

Full Figured Fashion Week 2012 Press Event

PHEW!!! I’m back from Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek) in New York and I’m exhausted! LOL! But, it’s a good kind of exhausted. Let me just start off my saying, that if you haven’t made it out to any of the FFFWeek events, then I highly recommend you trying to attend next year. It was such an amazing experience!! To see fashion for us on a runway  in New York City never gets old!

I was a member of The Fashion Front, a selected group of bloggers to cover all of the FFFWeek events. We were given early access and behind the scenes look into all of the plus size happenings. I did take over 2,000 photos while I was there. I will try to post them daily…I ask for mega-patience! LOL!

On the first day, I attended a special press event at 320 Studios (the terrace was amazing). It was a packed house! Most of the designers that were showcasing were in attendance and the press had a chance to meet them and get a sneak peek into their collections. It felt like a reunion as I ran into so many friends, but also met a lot of great people along the way. Take a peek at a few of my photos below!

Tips for a Fresh Summer Look

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/

Trying to stay cool last summer!
Trying to stay cool last summer!

Hello my loves! Summer is almost here and I want to know if you’re ready to face the hot weather. I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but in Los Angeles we can see days in the 90’s and almost in the 100’s! That’s crazy hot!!

There are so many different ways to get yourself ready for the summer. You might be thinking about what you’re going to wear and where you’ll get your swimsuit. BUT, have you thought about how you’re going keep that fresh summer look? You know what that is right?

A fresh summer look is when it’s hotter than hot outside and your best friend’s makeup is running down her face and you look like you just stepped outside. Don’t be skeptical , it’s possible!

I’m going to give you a few tips on how you can achieve that fresh summer look without breaking the bank. These are all products you can get at your local drugstore, like Walgreens.

First things first, it all starts with your daily shower. Try using a body wash like Dove’s Go Fresh Cucumber & Green Tea Body Wash. It will leave your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.

After your shower, why not try using Johnson’s Baby Powder or Pure Cornstarch Powder to help absorb any excess moisture or help prevent chafing.

And let’s not forget one of the more important things you can get your hands on this summer and that’s deodorant. I love Degree’s Women MotionSense Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant. It helps keep me fresh during the hottest moments.

When it comes to your makeup, make sure you find a moisturizer and foundation with SPF protection. When choosing eyeshadow, blush, or lip gloss stick to the lighter and fresher looking colors like peach or coral.

And there’s no other way to keep that fresh summer look than to keep your skin protected. No one likes a sunburn! The higher the SPF the better. Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock Lotion SPF 85+ would be perfect.

I hope you find these tips helpful! Not only will you feel fresh you’ll look fresh all summer long!

What are your favorite ways to keep that fresh summer look?

My Favorite Designer Sunglasses for Summer!

If you didn’t know, I once sold designer sunglasses at Nordstrom. It was probably one of my favorite retail jobs! Hellooooo…I got to see the styles before anyone else and I got an employee discount. It didn’t get any better than that. My wallet didn’t like it so much, but I loved it. Now, I lust after designer glasses like Gucci and Fendi. Many people don’t understand the love for a great quality pair of sunglasses, but I do. The craftsmanship and quality is a million times better and if you take care of them then they’ll last a lifetime.

I went over to Nordstrom.com and picked my favorites for this summer!

I want to try…Va Bien!

Just look at the stunning Melissa McCarthy in Va Bien’s Lacey Full Figure Bustier in the February 2012 issue of W! And if there’s one thing I love it’s sexy lingerie! Was that TMI? Sorry, but when you wear something sexy like this underneath your outfit, that has to put a little sexy “pep-in-your-step” for the day!

Va Bien, French for “Fits Well,” has been around since 1979 creating glamorous and sexy lingerie and shapewear. It’s been worn by celebrities like Dita Von Teese, former first lady Laura Bush, Alicia Silverstone, Patti Labelle, and Jessica Lange. That’s a wide range of shapes and sizes! I love the vintage and classic touches!

Do you want to try Va Bien as bad as I do? Or have you? What do you think?

Style Trend: Bold Prints and Bright Colors

I can’t seem to keep my eyes off all of the bold prints and bright colors I’m seeing everywhere. It all started with this chic red, black, and white Anne Klein dress (below). There’s just something about it. I want it so bad! Surprise Surprise…I think I have a serious “want” problem. Aye…anywhoo take a look below and let me know which looks have caught your eye. This Week’s Fashion Frustration

Fashion Frustration Makes me Feel Pixelated!
Fashion Frustration Makes me Feel Pixelated!

Blame it on me not feeling well or the fact that I waited until the last minute, but I am “fashion frustrated” at the moment. I can not seem to find anything to wear for Full Figured Fashion Week. I know I still have about 4 days left to shop, but come on! And with my back hurting the way it has, I can’t leave my house and the hubby hates to shop, so I’ve been stuck searching online.

And don’t even get me started on what I’m going to wear to the “All White Sunset Cruise.” Do you know how hard it is to find something that every other girl isn’t going to be wearing on that boat. LOL! I guess that’s the source of my frustration. Our lack of variety and availability. Last year, I saw so many lovely ladies in the same dress! That’s already happened to me once.

Why do straight sizes have all the fun? They have millions of options. Especially in the white dress department.

Let’s go curvy fashion designers…I need more options and white dresses! LOL! I’m a demanding blogger!

On a serious note…I know I’m just being a whiner and I know I’m so amazingly lucky to be headed to NYC, one of my favorite places on this planet. But, I’m allowed to whine and complain every once in a while. So there!

Are you headed to FFFWeek? Do you have your outfits planned?

Shoe Fever: Aldo Favorites

I need to go shopping. How many times have you heard me say that? LOL! But, this time I’m super serious! I’m supposed to go to New York next week for Full Figured Fashion Week and I am not one bit ready. Not at all. And to make matters worse, I need everything. Especially shoes!! When I realized this, I made my way over to one my favorite shoe stores, Aldo. Every time I walk into this place I immediately see something I love. Why me? Ugh! It sucks to always want want want…Anyways, I found a few pairs (9) that I need in my life. Sigh… Read more

Beauty Buzz: Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion

Remember when Suave was just a generic version of a shampoo? You’d only use it when you were low on cash. Come on! You know what I’m talking about. I can honestly tell you (which I think have a few times already) that this is not the same Suave.

Suave Professionals is getting better and better. In January I tried their Keratin Infusion 30 Day Smoothing Kit and I really loved it! You can view my video here. And for two weeks I’ve been using Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smoothing Lower Sulfate Shampoo & Conditioner System, Heat Defense Leave-In Conditioner, and Smooth & Shine Serum.

I’m really impressed by how soft and smoothed out my hair is and especially for the price. At Walgreens each item I used above retails for $3.49. But, remember my hair isn’t damaged or dyed, the results may be different depending on your hair type.

Have you ever used Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion products? Do you like them?
