In Skirt Heaven with JIBRI

The minute I saw this high waisted JIBRI skirt, I knew I had to have it! I think it’s probably the boldest piece of clothing I own. I love it and I feel amazingly sassy in it. I wore it during the finale night of Full Figure Fashion Week.

Now, if the skirt looks a little big, it’s because it is. I actually had it taken out at the waist and I think the measurements got a little mixed up, because when I tried it on, it was too big. With the help of the wonderful Elann Zelie, we pinned the inside, but it was still a little big. But, that’s OK, cause I felt amazing in it! The construction of the skirt is impeccable, but you already knew that. I paired it with a tank I picked up at Nordstrom and a pair of teal suede t-strap platforms from Steve Madden. I was really happy with the entire look!

Cult of California Launch Party

Are you a fitness fashionista or looking to become one? Cult of California recently had a launch party for their collection and it was pretty awesome. Held at the infamous Writer’s Room in Hollywood, invited guests were treated to black licorice flavored candy, music by Betty Ninja and the Nunchix, and a runway show.

Jen Wilder, the designer behind Cult of California, has given us fitness apparel you won’t be afraid to wear at yoga, Zumba class, or running errands. The line is definitely fierce with edge. I have a lot of favorites…don’t think I can choose just one. Check out the collection today…oh…and they are now accepting pre-orders!

Grecian & Flirty with Koko by Koko

I still can’t believe Full Figured Fashion Week is over…I’m going to start counting down the days until the next one! And I’m STILL posting photos! Unfortunately, I can’t post them all on this blog, so you can find them here on the Curves and Chaos Facebook fan page.

I did want to share what I wore on the night of the Indie Designer Showcase. Lovedrobe sent me this amazing dress by their new sister brand Koko by Koko. The White Patterned Grecian Dress (£38.00 at New Look), was glorious! It was definitely made for a woman with curves and I was in awe of the draping.I’m so impressed with the fit! You can dress this up or down for day or night. It’s so colorful! I wore my new Aldo suede wedges with it.

FFFWeek Indie Designer: SK WilLBUR & Ashley Nell Tipton

I seriously think the photos will never stop! LOL! In an attempt to bring you all the amazingness from Full Figured Fashion Week…this is the last post with individual designers. The next two will contain all of the remaining designers. If I continued at this rate, then I’d be posting for a few weeks. And by then, you’ll be sick of me and FFFWeek! LOL! OK…enough of that. Here are two creative and inspiring designers SK WiLBUR and Ashley Nell Tipton.

OOTD: “Curves in the City” Shopping Event

There’s just something about a maxi dress that makes me smile. See…look below…I’m smiling! LOL! Thank you to Torrid for sending me the Blush Slub Knit Ruffle Maxi Dress ($64). I adored it and I got tons of compliments on it. I was kind of bummed when I had to change later that day.

As you can see, it’s a really great length for me at 5’6 with flat sandals. I might even be able to get away with a wedge without it being too short. That’s one of my pet peeves. I’m a size 16 and this is a Size 1. If you look on the website, the ruffle (on the model) looks longer. Maybe it’s because I’m bigger up top than she is? The top was a little boobie-licious at some times, I had to keep picking it up. Besides that I loved this maxi and I can’t wait to wear it again!

FFFWeek Indie Designer Showcase: Curvato

Who loves dramatic glamour? I do! I do! That’s what Nicci Gilbert-Daniels gave us with her line…Curvato. As a member of the popular R&B group Brownstone, Nicci experienced low self-esteem “because of my size..Stylist often had to special order or custom make my clothing because buying fashionable clothing off the rack was not an option for me like it was for many of my peers.” Who hasn’t felt this or experienced this in some way?

FFFWeek Indie Designer Showcase: Youtheary Khmer

I first saw Youtheary Khmer show at Full Figured Fashion Week(end) in Los Angeles and she really stood out to me. That was two years ago and today she’s still impressing fashionistas around the world. Her current collection sold out the day it went on sale online. I think items are still on back order! I had a chance to chat with her at the recent FFFWeek press event and she’s still trying to catch her breath. She’s a very talented designer and I wish her nothing but success.

Sneak Peek: Carmakoma AW 2012

Ooooohhhh…do I have something special for you ladies! It’s a VIP SNEAK PEEK into Carmakoma’s AW 2012 collection!! If you’re anything like me and you love a classic clean look with an edgy and sexy twist, then this collection is for you. I’m DYING over the leather leggings! Seriously HOT! OK, you know I love something if I’m using all caps over here.

Carmakoma is a Danish label if you’re wondering, yes all the way from Copenhagen. I especially love them because they’re using my good friend Fluvia Lacerda in their recent campaigns.

“Carmakoma women are strong, independent individuals denying to be subject to the opinions of others. They are not afraid of experimenting with their personal form of expression, but are open to change and always heading towards new experiences – determined to control their own destiny.” -Carmakoma.com

This collection rocks with these amazing wrap skirts, polka dots and stripes, bold pieces, graphic prints, flowy pieces, and the leather leggings…oh the leather leggings!  They also have outerwear and menswear-inspired pieces. I can see myself wearing pretty much everything here.

This collection should be available online and in-store in August and their sizes range from U.S. 12-24.

I want to know what you think!

Will Carmakoma be on your shopping wish list?

OOTD: Sonsi “Be-YOU-tiful” Pop-Up Party

I just wanted to share a quick outfit post of what I wore to Sonsi’s “Be-YOU-tiful” Pop-Up Party. I wore this fun poncho top from H&M, pencil skirt from Forever 21 Plus Sizes, Sandals by Steve Madden, and necklace is also from Forever 21. I’m all about pencil skirts right now too!

You’ll probably see me wearing these sandals a lot! The leather is super soft and they were pretty comfy. And this is a better picture of my newly cropped hair! What do you think? I kind of want to add my bangs back…yes or no?

FFFWeek 2012 “Sonsi Be-YOU-tiful Pop-Up Party”

Full Figured Fashion Week 2012 was jammed pack with activities for bloggers, which I loved! I mean, come on…we’re the voice of fashion in the social media world. But, of course, that’s just my opinion LOL! I know one brand that appreciates that and definitely knows it is Sonsi. If you’re living in a cave and don’t know who they are…they’re an online marketplace destination that offers shopping and socializing for women sizes 12 and above.

Sonsi hosted the “Be-You-tiful” Pop-Up Party for us bloggers and it was so much fun! Not only did we get a look at some of the latest fashions from Sydney’s Closet, S.W.A.K, and Catherines, but we took pictures, won prizes, got mini-manicures, and makeup touch ups! There were a lot of fashionable bloggers there too.

Of course I have pics for you…

Disclosure: I received a swag bag and goodies at this event. The above is my true and honest opinion.
