One of the great things about blogging is the opportunity to learn about new and innovative beauty products. And I feel even better knowing I can share what I learn with you. Last week, I was invited, with a few other bloggers (Rachel of TheArtMuse.net and Yolanda of SassyMamainLA.com), to the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for a VIP event by ARTISTRY.
I had a chance to sit down and discuss skin care concerns like aging skin, skin types, and common skin issues. And it looks like age-defying products are “it” right now. ARTISTRY definitely has it down to a science too!
Take a look at some of the photos I took below.
Keep an eye out for future reviews on some of their products I received. I’m really exited to try their CRÈME L/X moisturizer, a few women I know swear by it!
Are you an ARTISTRY fan? What do you love most about their products? Which one is your favorite?
“Inspired by a mixture of nature and science, Artistry’s efforts are focused on understanding what causes ageing and imperfections, so we can identify new ingredients and new technologies to create state-of-the-art products that produce superior results.”
There’s one great thing about a basic denim top, you can wear it a lot of different ways. Seriously, Google “how to wear a denim shirt.” You’ll find tons of examples. And I hope to be able to show you a few myself. For this post, I decided on a really casual and relaxed look. One that can be dressed up a little with shoes and accessories.
I’m wearing Lands End’s long sleeve denim shirt ($45). With a black camisole and black skinny jeans. Very basic. The shirt is not tapered as much as I would like it to be, but I can probably get it altered for my future outfits. I decided on this bronze tribal necklace from Forever 21 and my shoes are BCBGeneration (older). I’m already trying to think of how I’ll wear this shirt next.
As you can tell, I’m in a little bit of a black and gold mood right now. I’ve always been a fan of wearing black. Maybe because it goes with pretty much everything and any color. The styles above really remind me of 90′s fashion with a boho chic twist. I’m loving all of these pieces. Looks like someone needs to go on a mini-shopping spree.
Yes…Suave is once again stepping their game up. This time it’s Suave’s Scalp Solutions. I am not afraid to admit that I sometimes deal with dandruff and an itchy scalp. Who doesn’t? It ‘s a lot more common than you might think. It can be caused by a long list of things, but every day occurrences like stress and hormones can also cause it.
When I do have a flare up, I reach for everyone’s favorite and reliable dandruff shampoo brand, but I can’t stand the smell it leaves behind. Ugh…you know what I’m talking about.
The scent reminds me of being at the beach with a drink in my hand…LOL! It has to be the coconut! Anyways, I’ve been using it for a week and it has been great. My hair is still soft and shiny, and it smells really good!

I’ve had this beautiful Rachel Pally skirt sitting in my closet for a while now, trying to figure out how or what to wear it with. And this is what I came up with on Easter Sunday. The minute I saw this print I knew I had to have it. You all know her sizes are a little generous, this is a size large in her straight size collection. The skirt is compliments of Rachel Pally herself. I met her at her last sample sale and introduced myself. She was so so nice and gracious!
Excuse my face in these photos. The sun was in my eyes and my hubby was not in a photographer kind of mood. So, I made sure he took them really quick. Ahhhh…married life. LOL!
Anyways, I felt very tribal in this look. This skirt is amazingly comfy. I tried to find it on her site, but it’s no longer available. You might be able to find it at her sample sale this weekend, for you L.A. people. I paired it with this tank top from Target and my new Naya Palomi sandals. The earrings are from Forever 21 and I’m wearing assorted bracelets. It was a very “barbecue on a warm sunny day” friendly outfit. I love living in L.A.!
Raise your hand if you’ve ever experienced the joy of finding a gladiator sandal that you knew you couldn’t live without? *Raises hand*
Ever since my black gladiator sandals died (the heel broke off), I’ve been on the hunt. Not only do I want cute, by I want comfy. You know that’s my favorite phrase.
That’s when shoe company Naya walked into my life and just in the nick of time. I was seriously ready to give up. Enter the Palomi Sandal ($129.95), in all its glory. I love the herringbone braid feature that runs down the front of the sandal. They have vegetable-tanned leather straps, a contoured footbed, an outsole containing 10-15% cork or rice husk, and an adjustable Velcro®-strap closure.
At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to like them. I’m so hesitant when choosing shoes over the internet. You don’t know how they’re going to fit. That’s the most stressful part, isn’t it? I’ve already worn these sandals a few times and have done quite a bit of walking in them and I have NO complaints yet. They’re comfortable, easy to put on, and chic! They run pretty true to size and I can’t wait to wear them more. I already know I’ll wear these out too! You can find them at Nordstrom in various colors and up to a size 12!
Spring is here and we already know what the trends are. Don’t we? Well if you don’t this might help you out. Today, I was looking around the Bloomingdales web site and I came across their plus spring style guide. It caught my eye and wanted to share it with you. Which trend is your favorite?
If you’ve been on the Lane Bryant web site recently, you might have seen some of the beautiful photography. The colors have been so vibrant! And just look at that back drop! Imagine being on that photoshoot! I saw it and emailed them right away and wanted to know if I could get some images from that shoot. They did better than that, they sent me some images from their May magalog. It’s a sneak peek! And I’m so in love. Not only with the photography, but some of their new pieces. I see a few things that I just might have to get! Take a look below!
I love…love. Yes, I’m a hopeless romantic and I can’t wait to see the new film The Lucky One starring Taylor Schilling and Zac Efron (hubba hubba).
Ahem…anyways…The Lucky One is about a U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) who returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive—a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know. Learning her name is Beth (Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.
Doesn’t it sound so beautiful!! I told you I’m a romantic! I already know I’m going to cry. LOL!
In celebration of the release of The Lucky One, I’m giving away a ($50) gift card for e.l.f. cosmetics, courtesy of The Lucky One. We all know and love e.l.f. cosmetics-professional makeup starting at just $1. Imagine what $50 would get you!! They even have a The Lucky One Sweepstakes going on right now. Enter here. But, in the meantime enter to win via the widget below.
As you can tell I’m in an animal print kind of mood, makes me feel a little feisty! Saturday night we were invited out for a birthday dinner in Downtown L.A. and I couldn’t throw this dress on fast enough. The Natural Leopard Surplice Chalice dress (courtesy of Torrid) was a perfect pick for our night out. It’s a great alternative for the normal jeans and top combo. It fit me really well, but as you can tell I did have to put a tank underneath so I didn’t show all the goods. I don’t think the hubby would of liked that. LOL! I really liked the length and how it hit right at the top of the knee. I’m 5’6, a size 16, and this dress is a Torrid’s size 1. And like always, I kept the styling simple, because it’s a bolder print. How would you have worn this dress?
You know it’s all about bright colors this spring! And now blazers are definitely getting in on the action. I know we always complain that we can’t find blazers in our sizes, but I think I might have you covered. I found a few below that are not only in amazingly bold colors, but they come in a range of plus sizes and prices. And they aren’t that traditional blazer style either. Check out the cropped style from Jessica London or this beautiful wrapped style from Ashley Stewart. Throw it over a spring dress or with a pair of your hottest skinny jeans with a tank underneath. Instant hot outfit!
I love this top! When I saw it, I knew I had to try it. It really is a twist on the popular leopard print. And I felt a little sexy with the whole shoulder showing. Grrr…The jeans fit like a glove…literally and I liked that. I always have a problem with jeans fitting me correctly. I’ve figured out I need to stick to a straight cut, they just fit better. I love the cuff, it’s like they’re a capri, but they’re not. Oh…and I kept my styling pretty simple. My shoes are an old pair from Charlotte Russe…I think. My mom bought them. Don’t mind my hair by the way, it’s getting way to long for my liking thus causing major bad hair days. Oh well…my weekend was amazing anyways!
