Bauble Alert: Tribal

I’m in a serious jewelry mood right now. I think it’s because I know I have to pick up a few pieces to help style my looks tomorrow for the Style-A-Thon. I’m super nervous by the way, even though it’s literally 15 minutes of my life. LOL! Anyways, since I have jewelry on my brain, I was looking around and came across a lot of tribal-inspired pieces. Don’t you just love this trend? I think it’s such a universal style that can be worn all throughout the year. I’d love to track down some vintage tribal jewelry.

What do you think? Love it or hate it?

I’m one of About Curves ‘Top 50 Self-Acceptance Bloggers!’

When I blog about self-acceptance and positive body image, I do it because I know what it’s like hate your body or be ashamed of what you look like. I’ve been made,
like all of us have, to believe that I’m supposed to look like the models in the magazine to be accepted in society. It took me a long time to realize that I don’t have to look like them to be considered beautiful. And that’s what I want to share with you. I do it for no other reason than to help you realize how amazingly beautiful you are, inside and out.

Yesterday, I received a tweet from About Curves, a plus size lingerie company. They told me that my blog was included in their “Top 50 Self-Acceptance Bloggers” list. Words can’t describe how honored I am to be included on this list. I’m sending out a big (virtual) hug and thank you to About Curves! Please check out the other blogs on the list and be ready to feel empowered!!

Beauty Buzz: Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense

Where are my Clinique fans at? I know you’re a loyal bunch. And if you’re one of them, then you probably already know about this amazing facial moisturizer.

Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator ($36) is a tall drink of water for your skin. Seriously. It literally feels hydrating when you’re applying it. I will tell you I have combination skin. That means it’s oily in some areas and dry in others. This is ideally for Very Dry to Dry and Dry Combination skin types. If you have oily skin, then this is not for you.

“Rich, oil-free cream-gel instantly rehydrates. Skin stays comfortably plumped, even 24 hours after you put it on. Daily use helps fortify and repair skin’s moisture barrier to keep moisture in, environmental irritants out. Better barrier, happier skin.” –

I applied this moisturizer on my face after getting out of the shower, because that’s when my face feels the driest. You only need a small amount for the entire face. It’s very light and leaves the skin feeling dewy. I will admit, because of my skin type and the oily areas of my face, I can’t wear this under my foundation during warmer weather. My forehead will get oilier than usual. This just goes to prove it’s for skins on the drier side and my skin during the winter. I love using it when I know I’m staying in for the day and not applying makeup.

Do you have dry skin? Have you tried Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator? What do you think?

Style & Designer: Lotta Stenson

Luxury resort wear isn’t really something I look into very often. There doesn’t seem to be much of it for us curvy gals. But, when I find something that is a “One Size” and looks like it will fit me…I’m all over that. That’s what happened when Ivory and I were walking around Magic LV last month and came across Lotta Stenson Resort Wear.

You may bave seen some of Lotta’s designs on a few celebrities like Kim Kardashian or Angelina Jolie.

I will tell you that Lotta is not only extremely nice, but she has a great eye for prints. We were immediately mesmerized by her flowy ponchos, kaftans, and tunics. I love this description from her bio:

“Since the very beginning Lotta has always been inspired by fabrics, colors and embroideries of far away lands. She values the artistry found in the “hand-work” of communities abroad and through her extensive travel and exploring the globe Lotta creates her own hand embroidered fabrics, tie dye’s and batik’s and is also know for her beautiful hand drawn prints. She creates designs silhouettes that are sexy, feminine and easy to wear.”

When I look at her designs I immediately imagine myself on a tropical island…don’t you?

$50 and Under: Espadrille Wedges

Now that spring is here, it’s time to start thinking sandals and wedges. I’m a big fan of wedges. Maybe because it’s not a flat, but it’s not a heel either. And there’s something about an Espadrille wedge that has me thinking spring dresses. Just look at all the style and colors. You have everything from nude to vibrant colors. I think I really need to go shopping. LOL! Since I’m in the mood to shop, I’ve decided to find you a few that are $50 and under. Which one is your favorite?

Beauty Buzz: New L’Oreal Paris EverStyle

Dry hair is not my cup of tea. And, until recently, I didn’t really care to check if the products I were using contained alcohol or not. It can be damaging and dry out your hair. Which makes it easier for your hair to break. Why did I not ever worry about this? I don’t know. That’s why I was excited to try the  L’Oreal Paris EverStyle line, which is alcohol and paraben free. This makes me a happy camper. But, you’re probably wondering the same thing I did…do they work?

I tried the Curl Defining Gel and Mousse, Smooth and Shine Serum, and the Strong Hold Styling Spray and Gel. They actually worked a lot better than I thought they would. Maybe a little too good. LOL…is that weird? I guess I’m a little too used to these products not working. I have wavy hair, so the curl defining line worked on holding the wave I have. And the Strong Hold line works great. Since these were awesome, I wasn’t surprised the serum worked too. I also loved that these products didn’t cause any flaking. If you’re looking for  alcohol-free prouducts, I’d definitely try the L’Oreal Paris Everstyle line.
