Torrid and I have been friends for a while now and I’ve noticed the trends come and go. One thing I’ve always loved about them is how they’ve always embraced the retro style. And all of the pieces above are perfect examples of that. I’m especially loving the dresses! Brands like Stop Staring and Queen of Heartz make chic pieces! Even the swimsuits are getting in on the action. Do you own any of their retro designs? Are you a retro kind of girl?
Where are my Mad Men fans? It’s all about the glamorous 1960’s and the sexy Christina Hendricks. Already headed into it’s fifth season, this AMC’s series has inspired a brand new and limited edition Estee Lauder Mad Men Collection. You’ll find an amazing red lipstick named Cherry and a pink rouge named Evening Rose. Even the outer carton was inspired by Estee Lauder packaging from the 1960’s.
I grabbed my new camera and snapped a few photos for you. I love how classic this is. So, what do you think? Will you pick up this new collection?
Please note: All photos were taken by me and are my personal property. No use of these photos without my written permission.
I am in love with this ASOS Curve maxi dress. Isn’t the color amazing? Perfect for spring. If I owned this dress, this is probably how’d I’d style it. Three different looks, yet all very casual. That’s me…a casual kind of girl. From a chunky bracelet, clutch, and sandals-these are all pieces that can be found very easily. Most you probably already have them.
How would you style this maxi?
I’m so sorry to do this to you, but I have to share Estee Lauder’s Teal Topaz nail lacquer with you. I say I’m sorry because it’s sold out online and it’s a limited edition color…sooooooo…not sure if you’ll be able to find it again.
This is probably one of the prettiest colors to ever touch my nails. When applying it, it goes on amazingly smooth and is a true color.
When I wore it, I got so many compliments on it. I felt super lucky to have gotten my hands on it…no pun intended.
This color is part of the Estee Lauder’s Topaz Collection for Spring 2012 designed by Tom Pecheux, the creative makeup director of Estee Lauder.
What do you think? Is this a good spring color?
Where are my adventurous ladies? This spiked jewelry may be for you-it’s not just for punk rockers anymore. I love it and I can’t wait to order a few pieces. But, knowing me, I’d hurt myself with one of those rings. LOL! I’m clumsy like that. Anyways, these pieces are an easy way to add edginess to your look. Do you think you can rock spikes?
Have you ever heard the saying that the wrinkles or the lines on your face tell a story? Whether around your eyes, on your forehead, or on the corners of your smile they’ll be there as we age. Could it be from smiling? Frowning? Worrying? Celebrating? Will you remember what was happening in your life during those moments?
I look back and view my stretch marks in the same way.
As a pre-teen, I noticed my first stretch mark. It laid on the lower part of my back and I couldn’t stop looking at it. My mom said it was because I was growing. This made sense, I was a lot taller than a lot of my friends. And it was during this time I felt awkward and a little clumsy. Boys didn’t really look at me. And I’ll always remember who my first crush was.
As I continued to grow, so did the stretch marks. This time they were around my hip area. As a teenager, this pretty much stopped me from wearing swimsuits. I was very insecure, even though I was a mere 125lbs and 5’6. I don’t even think I knew what the word “confident” meant at this age. I did know I didn’t want to look like I did. I envied the pretty girls with the boyfriends.
In my 20’s, I noticed them in my waist area. I would lose weight, gain weight, lose weight, and gain weight. And would often beat myself up when I gained a few pounds. I was in the military and I was still trying to figure out who I was. I found myself trying very hard to fit their standards. During this time, I met my amazing hubby.
Today, I have stretch marks in areas I didn’t know we could get them. I’m not even going to go “there.” But, I will tell you I know when they first appeared and what was going on in my life at that time. I don’t hate them, in fact I embrace them. They remind me of the roads I’ve traveled. I’m thankful they will never go away. They tell me the story of my life.
What do your stretch marks tell you?
