OOTD: Out with the Girls

I had an opportunity to hang out with some of my girls this weekend. After a long day, I didn’t want to wear anything too complicated, but I didn’t want to wear sweats out either. I decided to go with this beautiful Blue Crepe Lattice Cold-Shoulder from Torrid. I even threw my hair up in a high bun.

I love the top, but after looking at these images, I feel like I should’ve chosen a smaller size. It’s supposed to have a flowy fit, but I think it’s a little too much for my shape. Now, this is something I’ve only recently noticed. I tend to buy clothes that are a little too big for me. I don’t know if it’s a mental thing, maybe my perception of myself is skewed. I’m in-between sizes, so if I go down a size it might be a little tighter, but if I go up a size it’s a little big. I always end up going bigger. That needs to change.

Regardless, it’s extremely comfy and the color pops. Loving this blue right now and the shoulders are so sexy! If you also notice, I should have paired this with more form fitting denim. It’s crazy because it looked fine in the mirror, but the images are bugging me. LOL!

Whatever…there’s nothing like a well-deserved lesson in fashion. Earrings are from Target, bracelets are from Lane Bryant, shoes are Steve Madden, and denim is from Torrid.

Curves and Chaos is officially 2! I can’t believe I’ve been blogging here this long. You have no idea how appreciative I am of each and every one of you that has visited and commented on my blog.

My confidence has grown beyond measure and I thank you for that. I still and will always believe in loving yourself inside and out.

One thing I’m REALLY appreciative of is all of the amazing people I’ve met, the places I’ve been, and the events I’ve been invited to. Each and every opportunity has been amazing! And it’s all because of you!

And as a thank you…

I’m going to have an entire month of giveaways! Each week, in the month of February, you will have a chance to enter to win amazing prizes from Queen Grace Collection, IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel, Fashion to Figure, Hips & Curves, We Love Colors, Payless ShoeSource,  Curvilicious, and Caress.

Beauty Buzz: L’Oreal Paris’ Because You’re Worth It

We are in the midst of award season and this nail color is perfect! L’Oreal Paris’ Because You’re Worth  is an amazing gold. It’s part of the new Colour Riche collection and this color is part of the Iconic Muse color story (there are four).

Daring and elegant, the Iconic Muse isn’t afraid of a little risk and loves to make a strong color statement.” -Loreal.com

It’s soft but has a beautiful sheen. People have been complementing me on this color since I applied it. It’s a perfect metallic shade. And it’s long lasting. I’ve had it on now for 4 days and there doesn’t seem to be any wear. Looks like I just polished them yesterday. With all my blogging, that’s a miracle. LOL!

OOTD: A Night with Salt-N-Pepa

When I was in elementary school, I was in cheerleading and we put together a dance routine to “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa. So innapropriate, I know! LOL! I’ve loved them ever since. Last night, I had the opportunity to attend a launch party for McDonald’s new Chicken McBites and guess who was performing? Yes!! Salt-N-Pepa!! I was too excited!!

I didn’t know what to wear, then I remembered I had this jumpsuit from Torrid in my closet (not available). I threw on these heavy earrings from Forever21, ring from Torrid, and clutch from Dama Handbags. It was an awesome night. I even recorded a performance of “What a Man.” It’s at the end of the post. Are you a Salt-N-Pepa fan?

Style Trend: Polka Dots

It’s polka dot time again! Although the black with white dots color scheme is the original, you’re not limited to just those colors. Let’s get a little adventurous and try something a little different. You can find polka dots in lots of different color combos and sizes-from tiny to big. And if you’re one of those that doesn’t like to wear prints, you can grab an accessory like a shoe, scarf, handbag, and even an umbrella. No excuses!

Beauty Buzz: JAFRA Makeup Remover

I’m one of “those” girls that hates to take off their makeup before bed. Yeah…yeah…I know. I especially, dislike trying to remove eye makeup. I can never find a remover that is gentle enough and does its job.

Little did I know, the answer was under my nose the entire time. I was gifted a bottle of JAFRA’s Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips ($12) last year and forgot all about it. I don’t know what I was thinking. Maybe it was hiding from me?

This is one of the best makeup removers I’ve ever tried. It’s so amazingly gentle and it does it’s job. It doesn’t burn or irritate my eyes and has the lightest scent. It’s made with Cucumber Extract, which soothes, and Macadamia Nut oil, which conditions. And it’s not just for your eyes, you can use it on your lips too. I guess I don’t have any more excuses to not remove my makeup.

New Plus Size Fashion Show on TLC?

If you read my post  Mixed Messages you know how I feel about TLC’s show What Not To Wear. This show features co-host Stacy London, a fashion expert who tells women what they should and shouldn’t wear.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, London got the green light for eight episodes of a new fashion series. It’s untitled at the moment, but the article states it will feature husband and wife business owners Lisa and Jim Dolan. They own plus size boutique Lee Lee’s Velise in Brooklyn, New York.  The show will revolve around the boutique and the customers.

A lot like What Not To Wear, the owners will work on making over their customer’s wardrobes and offering plus size fashion advice.

I’m always worried about how these shows will portray plus size women. Sometimes these networks edit the show to be a lot more dramatic than it really is. You know what I’m talking about, right? Let’s hope this shed’s a positive light on plus size women and  fashion.

What do you think?

Queen Grace Signature Spring Collection

The Queen Grace Signature Spring Collection is now available online! Loving the clean and classic cuts and designs. Big fan! They are available in different prints and vibrant colors. They’ve even extended their sizes up to a 26. And they are offering a 25% discount code QUEENIE25 for all shoppers and FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $100! My favorite, the Grace dress is included as well!

OOTD: Casually Denim

I can always count on my good friend Ivory for inspiration. If you haven’t had a chance to check out her blog (www.IvoryJinelle.blogspot.com) you’re missing out. She’s fashionably fearless. Love her…if you read my blog then you know I mention her a lot. Yesterday, I saw her wearing a denim jacket and it reminded me of the one I had sitting in my closet.  I picked this one up at Forever 21 months ago and haven’t had a chance to wear it. And since it was a gloomy day here in L.A. I wanted to wear something comfy and casual. I’m wearing a H&M tunic underneath with my Sejour leggings and Dollhouse boots. The scarf is an oldie from Gap. It was a great outfit for spending time with the family and watching football.

Wanted: Oversized Sunglasses

Sunglasses + me = Love. I adore them and they are one of my favorite accessories. I was doing what I do best…online window shopping on a Saturday night and I ran across a few pairs that really caught my eye. And they all happened to be oversized. In a Jackie O kind of way of course. But, I was watching Scarface and Michelle Pfeiffer was rocking them too. Loved her style in that movie! Anyways, back to the sunglasses. I can already see myself wearing them this spring and summer with my favorite maxi dress. It’s time to find that perfect pair.

Do you see yourself wearing oversized sunglasses?

Hippie Chick / Anna Scholz Black Label for SS 2012

Anna Scholz…what are you doing to me? You’re so fabulous and these latest images from her Hippie Chick collection from Anna Scholz Black Label Spring/Summer 2012 only prove it. I’m dying over here! I’ve always loved her use of prints with a feminine touch. And this collection is a perfect example of that.

Hippie Chick is “down-to-earth girliness with a sophisticated twist.” I agree. You will find maxi dresses and tunics in colors and prints for almost everyone. I will admit I’ve only owned one of her maxi dresses, but it’s so amazingly…amazing…that I just might have to splurge and grab something from this latest collection. Take a look for yourselves…what do you think? I can’t decide which one I want…

OOTD: The Grace Dress

The minute I laid eyes on the Queen Grace Collection sketches, almost 8 months ago, I knew it was something special. Then I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing woman behind the brand in New York City during Full Figure Fashion Week. Marina is such a genuine person. She’s amazingly sweet too!

I told her I loved the “Grace” dress! It’s that edgy LBD I’ve always needed. My eyes lit up when I saw her designs come down the Full Figure Fashion Week runway. A few weeks later, she sent me the “Grace” dress…my fashion dream come true. The dress comes in two different trims-synthetic leather and satin. I wore the satin-trimmed design at the L’Oreal Paris 40th Anniversary cocktail party in Beverly Hills.

This was one of those “fits like a glove,” I even had the hubby help get me into it. LOL! It was the perfect dress for this night.

Thanks Marina! xoxo
