Monique! I could not agree more. I am so happy that you chose to promote this charity drive, and for that purpose I too chose to tag along….I have been trying to write a blog on many issues we, as women, face. Because we are not just women we are many woman of many races that experience this very idea in different ways. Id love some feedback when you get the opportunity. I am with you on this, its important to remember that men are affected by size acceptance as well. We don’t get the media coverage (although women’s size acceptance doesn’t get enough anyway) and we have to deal with mens magazines showing us how we ‘should’ look. Be happy, feel good and be excited about who you are!!

I love your post! And I totally agree that pride starts when we become fully aware that lots of money is made every day by engrossing the big business of dissatisfaction, of making us all feel somewhat “deviant” in the world of illusion created by the mass media. There are all sorts that never seem to fit in, and many profit from their desperate need to do so. Being able to see that is being able to see the whole picture, and the whole picture necessarily includes the self.
I do celebrate my and your and our curves, which many times I’ve felt ashamed of and gone on endless stupid and harmful diets to get rid of, since in my country, though many have little quality food to feed themeselves, many others, who are better off, try hard to look thin, as that is the standard of beauty which is imposed on us. Quite a paradox, don’t you think? Thank you for your making people see that real beuty comes from the inner self, from acceptance, from true self-esteem!
