I am in awe…seriously. I had to stop, right in the middle of what I was doing, to write this post.
For a lot of us, we’ve had to deal with being told that fat is ugly. And that we are not worthy of fashion, because we don’t fit the fashion industries mold. That’s total BS!
As I was flipping through
On a side note-I’d just like to let you all know that I am now the Shopping Editor of Plus Model Magazine. I am so very honored and humbled to be a part of this amazing team. xoxo
I picked up this yummy color in a gift bag at an event. OPI’s Charged Up Cherry is definitely an eye-catcher. The color is a mix of neon pink with a hint of coral. Love this color! It’s fun and it’s perfect for summer. Plus it’s OPI, so you know it’s a long lasting nail lacquer. Would you wear Charged Up Cherry?
Disclosure: This item was gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.
I guess this HOT weekend was one with a lot of firsts. For example, I haven’t worn a floral romper since I was kid. I was really surprised when Torrid sent me their Floral Ruffle Tube Romper ($48.50). I don’t even think I would of purchased this for myself.
Doesn’t it kind of look like a dress? I was happy there were no malfunctions while wearing it. And you have no idea how happy I was knowing that there were pockets. It was roomy and pretty comfy, but after wearing it all day the elastic in the tube top kind of starting irritating me. There is also an elastic waist, which gives it shape. I threw on this skinny braided belt, my You by crocs wedges, gold hoop earrings and bangle bracelets, and my Forever 21 sunglasses. It was sooooo hot on this day and this jumper kept me nice and cool!
Disclosure: The clothing and shoes were gifted in this post. This is no way affected my post. The above is true and my honest opinion.
I didn’t know if I should even write about this. I’m unsure about even mentioning his name, because I don’t want to give him any more publicity. But, I just wanted to give you ladies another and perfect example of size discrimination in the fashion industry (like you needed more).
We all know who Tom Ford is right? He’s an American designer for brands like Gucci and YSL. In fact, I loved what he did for Gucci. But, once again a big time fashion designer has showed their true colors.
I will always admit, that every person has a right to their opinion. And he can say and believe in anything he wants…anything. But, that doesn’t mean I have to agree and like everything that comes out of his mouth.
The other day I was on Twitter and @StyleHasNOSize tweeted something regarding Tom Ford. She sent me the link and that’s when I lost ALL and any respect I had for this very talented designer.
In an excerpt from an article titled Tom Ford Calls Americans and Londoners ‘Too Fat’ by The Hollywood Reporter, Ford tells us how he really feels.
When asked by Time Out Hong Kong whether his new spring summer collection would fit everybody, he responded, “If we have to talk about things like this, Americans are too fat. And in London they are starting to get fat too. So I have to say that if we have to talk about race system and nationalism, I find it refreshing that everyone Chinese is slim.”
Isn’t it just plain sad? Why do so many of these designers have Fat Phobia? I want to know what you think.
Are you surprised?
Do you have a problem with what he said?
Are you offended?
Do you not care?
Do you think this will be the last fat phobic comment we’ll hear from a top fashion designer?
We all know that denim comes in a lot of different washes. When I was a teen (showing my age LOL) acid wash was really popular.
A few weeks ago, I went into a Forever 21 and saw a few pairs of acid wash jeans. You probably saw them. They were turquoise and pink. I can’t remember the other colors. Ever since that moment, I couldn’t stop thinking about them. But, I knew I couldn’t really pull off those colors.
Then I walked into Forever 21 on Saturday and saw these
Don’t mind the glare in my eyes, I was running out the door to an event. I did make sure to snap a photo of some pieces Torrid had sent me. Yes, I did get the package that day. Thank goodness, because I didn’t know what I was going to wear. And since this was a casual L.A. happy hour, I thought this would be perfect.
I’m wearing Torrid’s Feather Print Tube Top and Source of Wisdom Black Luxe Skinny Jean. The top is really light and has a little cinching under the bust, which I liked because it gave me some shape. I think the best thing was the fact that it didn’t fall down every second like some tube tops do. Now, the skinny jean is really soft and you know I love a stretchy jean. They aren’t heavy and thick like normal denim, which I appreciated, because it was pretty warm.
I kept the accessories simple with Bongo earrings from Kmart, bracelets bought at a yard sale, and a ring I got in Downtown L.A. for $1! My shoes are by Jefferey Campbell (Nordstrom Rack), I love the back of the heel. For some reason it makes me feel fierce!
Disclosure: I was gifted the clothing from Torrid and earrings from Kmart. This by no way affects my review. The above is my true and honest opinion.
First of all…I love the name “Skinny Minority!” And if you were wondering, it’s a full service personal styling and image-consulting company based in Philidelphia founded by Karima Renee.

I featured some of her recycled leather jewelry from the Aurora line. I found her on Etsy and instantly loved her earth-friendly, hand crafted pieces. Especially the Slash Cuff.
Guess what? One lucky winner will get to choose any piece from the Aurora line! It’s even open internationally!!
