Casually…Red, White, and Blue

Yes, you’re going to see a lot of red, white, and blue inspired looks as we get closer to this 4th of July weekend. I wanted to go a little bit of a different route to offer you some color inspiration. A lot of these pieces can be paired together or just worn alone. I chose a lot of casual pieces, because one…it’s summer…and two…it’s the weekend. And it’s going to be hot!

I’m looking at this and I can’t help but think how much I love all of these colors right now. Are you going to honor our country’s independence this weekend with a little red, white, and blue?

What color inspiration are you loving? The red, white, or blue

Simply Yours and the Camisole

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed in the plus size online-shopping world,  it’s that there are quite a few options in the U.K. I used to live in Europe and at that time, I didn’t do any online shopping for clothes. Today, you can find almost anything online, including lingerie.

 Sexy! Sexy!

Simply Yours is one of those U.K. lingerie brands. I actually owned a plus size corset of theirs and I loved it! They make the cutest pieces. Anything from bras, knickers, hosiery, nightwear and more.

I was looking at their web site today and I couldn’t help but notice something. Why don’t I wear camisoles like these?

Really? The camisole is such a basic, but essential piece. Think about it, when was the last time you had a button up blouse and you just wanted to leave a few buttons open, but you didn’t want to flash everyone? If you had a lace camisole, you could just wear it underneath and let it peek out. Leaving something to the imagination?

And I’ve always been a fan of wearing tanks underneath my tops as well, but sometimes you just want something a little sexier. That’s where the plus size camisole comes in. It can even be worn casually or as sleepwear. They even carry slimming camisoles, if that’s what you need. You know I love how one piece of clothing can be used in so many ways and be functional. Once again lingerie saves the day!

Do you own a camisole from Simply Yours?

COVERGIRL’s Queen Collection BET Beauty Lounge

Ever since I got back from NYC, I really haven’t been feeling too well. So, in order to try and feel normal, I attended an event on Sunday.

We got mini-makeovers. As you can see, I did get my make up done (smokey eye) and you know they have that amazing braid bar at the salon. I just wanted something loose and romantic. I loved it! I wore this green rayon dress I bought at Target, a skinny gold belt from New York and Company, jewelry from Avenue and nude peep toe sling backs by Jessica Simpson. And if you’re wondering, that’s an amazing coral Cacique plunge bra under that dress! LOL!! Is that FYI?

I did get to hang out with my girlies Marie from

I walked out with an amazing gift bag full of Queen Collection products. And if you were on Twitter today, you had a chance to win a free lipstick. Follow me @CurvesandChaos for more spontaneous giveaways!

China Glaze’s Turned Up Turquoise

I’ve been craving a turquoise nail color and I knew China Glaze would have what I was looking for. They always do. I found Turned Up Turquoise over at Ulta for $7. It’s little more green in real life. For some reason  it was hard to get the exact color in the photos. Something really interesting about this color is that it dries matte. I used the China Glaze No Chip Top Coat to add some gloss. I love that top coat.

What brand makes your favorite turquoise nail color?

My Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Exhibit Visit

When I found out I was going to New York for Full Figured Fashion Week, I knew I had to head over to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I’ve always been an admirer of Alexander McQueen, his vision, and talent. His death was a loss for the the fashion world. I loved his work, but didn’t know much about him personally. That’s why I made sure to attend the

FFFWeek: The Pulse of the Plus Size Community Panel

If there is one thing I will take away from Full Figured Fashion Week, it has to be what I learned about our community. As part of The Fashion Front, we were involved in a lot of activities, but The Pulse of the Plus Size Community Panel was my favorite.

The panel consisted of Jill Hutchison of Sonsi, Katheryn Finney The Budget Fashionista, Madeline Figueroa-Jones of Plus Model Magazine, Jennene Biggins the Founder and CEO Voluptuous Woman Company, Leslie Medlik of Redress, and was moderated by Comedian Erica Watson.

We discussed so many things, but really focused on what our issues and needs are as a community, how we should support each other to succeed, price discrimination, availability of fashion, and the fashion industry.

The audience asked so many great questions! I was really honored to be in that room with so many amazing women and men. In fact, you’ve all inspired me so much, that I’ve decided to start a petition asking plus size retailers to use a wider variety of models in their ads. I think it really starts with them.

Disclosure: I’m a member of The Fashion Front, which allowed me complimentary access into all events. Some items of my outfit were sponsored. The above is my true and honest opinion.
