Designer News: Silvia Tcherassi for Payless

Columbian designer,

I am thrilled to be working with Payless on my first-ever shoe label. This is a great opportunity to create shoes and handbags to complement my existing fashion collections and for the Spring/Summer season this includes many important silhouettes like wedges, flats, strappy heels and thongs sandals with key trend details like bright color-blocking, unique mesh uppers and satin ribbon details and ties,” commented Tcherassi. “It was inspiring to work with the Payless footwear design team in NYC — together we created a sophisticated, contemporary collection that features the latest trends and high-end style, but at an affordable price starting at $40 a pair.

Lounging into Spring with Linen

We are officially one week into the spring season. Even though it doesn’t seem like it in some parts of the country. The weather has been crazy! It’s supposed to be in the 70′s this week here in L.A.

One of my favorite things about spring is being able to layer. Because the weather is still mild and with today’s unpredictable weather, you have to be ready. It’s always changing.

That’s why during this time of the year, you start seeing a lot of linen peices. A linen blazer is great to use over a tank top or a spring dress, because it’s a lighter material than the wool or heavy cotton pieces we were wearing. Not to mention it’s pretty comfy. This

The Shopping Diaries: “Me” Time

With the hubby being out of town, I had the chance to do something I haven’t done in a very long time. I had shopping “me” time. Not just regular old shopping time, but time well spent.

I spent hours just walking around the mall. Taking in fashion and a few bargains. I wasn’t in a rush, I didn’t have to be anywhere. I just took my time. It was awesome. I highly recommend it.

We all get our inspiration, one way or another. This is how I get inspired. I almost bought this amazing Rachel Roy dress from Macy’s, but I didn’t want it to be an impulse buy. Now, I’m sitting here going back and forth to the web site wishing I had bought it. Why does that always happen?

I did pick up some jewelery from Francesca’s Collections, two books from Urban Outfitters ($2.90 each!!), and a cardigan from Nordstrom. What can I say…it was a  productive day.

And because of L.A.’s cloudy and chilly weather I wore the most comfy outfit I could put together:

Retro Eyes with Free People

I love sunglasses. You all know I used to work in the accessories department at Nordstrom. I always say that’s where the love affair began.

Now, that it’s officially spring, I’m in the mood to start wearing different styles and colors. Right now the love is geared towards retro style sunglasses. Like the

Take the Dove Close-Up Challenge

I love soft skin! Don’t you? That’s why I’m trying the new Dove® VisibleCare™ Crème Body Washes. They state you’ll “get visibly more beautiful skin from a body wash in just 1 week.” I can’t wait to write a review for you.

In the meantime, Dove® is inviting real women everywhere to create a video up to 60-seconds in length sharing why they are ready for their close-up experience.

The selected woman will receive a weeklong all-expense-paid trip to Los Angeles where she will get an authentic “Dancing with the Stars” experience including training with a performer from the show, confidence coaching by Jennie Garth and the ultimate opportunity: a “finale” of her own.

She will get to show off her smooth moves and beautiful skin in front of America when she dances in a Dove-sponsored TV spot in the season finale of “Dancing with the Stars.” Hurry up because the deadline is this Saturday, March 26th.

Wishful ‘Spring Outfit’ Thinking

I really wish it wasn’t raining today. Yes, I said it. I know I said I love the rain in the past, but after a leak in the roof caused damage to my closet (the consequence of living on the top floor), I am reconsidering the love. Thank goodness nothing was damaged. My clothes, shoes, and handbags are safe and sound. We caught the leak just in time. So, now I sit here wishing I could wear an outfit like the one below. Instead, I think I’m pulling out my Uggs.

Beauty Buzz: Head & Shoulders

No one wants to admit they have dandruff right? In reality, it’s a lot more common than most of us might think. I’m not afraid to admit my bouts with it in the past. (Don’t know what causes dandruff? Click here.)

I know dandruff is on the way when my head starts to itch. When that happens I make sure to wash my hair with Head & Shoulders. Yes, we all know this brand. They’ve been around for years and have really evolved to be the best dandruff shampoo on the market. And that’s for good reason. Their shampoo and conditioner really work. No, I’m not a spokesperson, just a satisfied customer.

I don’t have to worry about “that smell” either. You know what I’m talking about. The smell that most generic dandruff shampoos leave you with. The new Head & Shoulders collections come in 11 different scents at an average price of $7.99. The hubby and I have been using the “Ocean Lift” formula and it has done wonders. And I’ve even noticed how soft and manageable it has left my hair. I only use it once a week now, but it has helped to maintain the health of my scalp.
