How to Accessorize a Maxi Dress

One of my favorite silhouettes for spring would have to be the maxi dress. It’s the ultimate dress for comfort and style. And it’s so versatile.

This Lane Bryant V-neck Maxi Dress ($39.95) is a perfect example. This LBD (I’m now calling the long black dress) is like a blank canvas.

From the waist to your neck and down to your feet, there are so many ways to accessorize and make this the dress you’ll wear all spring. Not only will you be able to accessorize like a pro, but you’ll do it at reasonable prices with pieces that will carry into other seasons.

The Floral Scarf

The Leather Belt

The Chunky, Funky, or Long Necklace

The Eclectic Cuff Bracelet

The Gladiator Sandal

Now that I think about it, you probably have most of these items in your possession. How do you dress up your maxi dresses?

Vote for “The Face of FFFWeek”

It might be New York Fashion week and I do love fashion, but do you know what I love more? Full Figured Fashion Week! And it’s set to all go down again in New York on June 16-18, 2011!

I was lucky enough to be selected as a member of The Curvy Collective in Los Angeles last year for Full Figured Fashion Week(end). It was an amazing experience!

Every time I see founder Gwen DeVoe post something about FFFWeek on Facebook, I get more and more excited! As a matter of fact, they are currently searching for The (New) Face of Full-Figured Fashion Week for 2011. You might remember the stunning Rosie Mercado representing in 2010.

There are over 30 beautiful women vying for the spot! I can’t wait to see who wins!

Grammy Hair Styles: Long and Loose

When you think of last night’s Grammy’s you don’t think of hair. Well, I do now. My favorite looks of the night were the longer styles, either straightened or wavy. It was very rocker chic!

Jessica Simpson’s Fashion Empire is said to reach $1 Billion

Can you believe Jessica Simpson’s fashion empire is set to reach a whopping $1 billion this year? This is according to an article in New York Magazine that will hit newsstands on February 21.

It’s no surprise, right? 2010 brought in $750 million alone. It’s reported she will add a full ready-to-wear collection and a career separates line later this year.

Hopefully, she’ll decide to work on a plus collection. Until then, I’ll drool over her shoes and handbags. In fact, I found a few pairs I wouldn’t mind adding to my collection.

I know I say I love shoes, but the first pair is amazing! It’s called the Edgewood ($89) and I would wear them forever. I promise.

Poll: Do you really love your curves?

I love my body. I really do! But, I know I’m not healthy. I have high cholesterol and I haven’t worked out in months. If I could be in top physical health and have my curves, then I’d love myself even more. Read more

Beauty Buzz: Zoe&Zac

When you think of Payless ShoeSource, you think of stylish shoes at affordable prices, right? You don’t  think of bath and beauty products.

Well, it’s time to change that train of thought. They are now offering bath, beauty, and fragrance products at affordable prices.

I found this out a few months ago, when I was sent a free sample of their “green” and natural beauty products by Zoe&Zac.

I will admit I am totally in love with the Bamboo White Tea Body Mist ($7.99). It’s such a light and fresh scent…so dreamy.

The Zoe&Zac beauty line is exclusive to Payless and consists of makeup, bath & body, fragrances, nail polish, and gift sets. I’m dying to try one of their Eye & Lip Palettes. Preferably, the Forest Blooms Eye & Lip Palette ($9.99). They colors remind me of spring.

Created by Summer Rayne Oakes, the line is free of Parabens and Phthalates, not tested on animals, and all packaging is recyclable.

Have you tried any of the Zoe&Zac beauty products? Tell us what you think!

Bargainistas rejoice! The Nordstrom Rack is now online! I know you’re jumping for joy right at this moment. I love this store, but because of the “demographics” the one closest to my house doesn’t carry an plus sizes. That makes me a grumpy shopper. And no one likes a grumpy shopper.

Now I get to shop online for Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Caslon, Rachel Pally, Adriana Papell, and more for up to 70% off! I need to catch my breath.

What do you think? Are excited to shop “The Rack” online?

If I was a rich girl: Saks Fifth Avenue’s Salon Z

You’ve heard me describe myself time and time again as a bargainista. I do love a good bargain, but sometimes I do crave the finer designers in life.

If I was a rich girl, I would definitely be wearing designers that you would only find at high-end department stores like Sakes Fifth Avenue and their Salon Z.

Salon Z carries pieces in sizes 14-24 by designers such as Michael Kors, Eileen Fisher, Amanda Uprichard, David Meister, Elie Tahari, Design History, Juicy Couture, and more.

I have been in love with Amanda Uprichard’s pieces since the first day I saw them. The cut of the designs look like they really accentuate a woman’s curves.

Below are some item’s I’d love in my shopping cart. Most of them are dresses and tunics, but there is an Eileen Fisher coat that I’d love to have! If only I was a rich girl…

Do you shop at Saks? What are some of your favorite high-end designers?

 T-Bags $225

Crystal Renn speaks…again…about her weight loss

image:crystalrenn.com

Ex-plus model Crystal Renn, in an exclusive video interview via the Ford Models Blog, speaks up again about the issue of her recent weight loss.

“For some a thinner Crystal Renn has meant betrayal of the very foundations upon which she built her career as the most famous plus model in the world. On the face of it, these accusations appear founded, but do not hold up when subjected to further scrutiny. Lost in the discussion has been Crystal’s steady call for greater diversity in fashion and especially as it concerns size.” -Ford Models Blog

Check out the video…

In the interview, Crystal states that if she were to go back up to her plus-size model weight she would have to develop a binge eating disorder.

“Crystal is an incredible model no matter her size and should be celebrated as such. I am not sure this will be the final word on the issue, but so far as this page is concerned this Crystal Renn interview draws a line under it.” -Ford Models Blog

I think she’s a beautiful woman and an amazing model. Can you leave it at just that? Do you not care anymore? Or do you feel “betrayed?”

Grey’s Anatomy star, Sara Ramirez, strips down to her undies for the cover of the March issue of Latina magazine.

Doesn’t she look so glam? I love her hair! Ramirez discusses it all in this issue, including loving her curves!

“There’s a whole list of things you could worry about. Are you skinny enough? Talented enough? In all kinds of ways, I used to be really, really hard on myself.”

The March issue will hit newsstands on February 15th.
