Q: What does being a “curvy” model mean to you?

To be a curvy model means to represent a shapely women with hips. It means being true to myself and understanding that I like the greater masses have a face and body to relate to.  Bear in mind I come from a family/culture that embraces looking healthy, period.  It clicked when my grandma once said to me a woman having a little pouch was a real woman! In Africa being curvy is a beautiful thing. It’s not associated with negative connotation often projected and imposed in the US or other continents.

Q: What or whom inspires you the most?

My mom inspires me because she is a bad ass woman.. she is sharp, most importantly she’s a survivor, moving to the US in pursuit of a better life, we endured struggles.  My mom raised four girls alone, over came language barrier, managed to finish college and now stands a well respected political influence, a representative of ECOWAS Parliament.. When she walks in a room her presence is felt.. She’s smart, charming, stylish, & full figured..  I learned at a young age that being clean, coordinated & presentable  was not determined by dollar amount nor size but comes from your inner richness.

Q: Where are your favorite places to shop?

My favorite place to shop interestingly enough shopping is not my favorite thing to do however when I need something it comprises of mix of stores as it’s not easy to find every piece in one store and that fits perfectly.. I like Torrid, Ashley Stewart, Forever 21, Macy’s, boutique’s, and pieces sent from overseas just to name a few.

Q: What is your fashion “weakness?”

My fashion weakness is when I find something I like I want to wear it to death.. Lol I’m a skirt girl.. so I want to wear skirts throughout the winter.. Thank God for tights.

Q: What advice would you give to any new or aspiring “curvy” models?

My advice for aspiring curvy models is that we are not all made meant to be the same so embrace and represent their true selves.  Be your own business woman and recognize your lives have a purpose beyond self and when we understand it will drive all aspects of our lives including modeling.  Also, confidence, good health & style come in different shades, shapes, & ages.. so have vision, faith, stay positive and await the universe to align with one another!
