Crystal Renn for Gottex Spring 2011

Crystal Renn strutted her stuff down the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week catwalk for the Gottex Spring 2011 line today. There’s no doubt she’s a beautiful woman, but has our poster girl for plus size models lost her plus size appeal?

In my honest opinion, if she’s happy with the way she looks and she is comfortable in her own skin, then I’m happy for her and anyone for that matter; regardless of their size. I guess compared to the size 2 on the runway she is still a plus size model. And Gottex does make extended sizes in their swimwear line. The coral swimsuit is AMAZING!

I want to know what you think.
Do you still consider Crystal Renn a plus size model?

No. Honestly, a size 10/12 is not now, never has been and never will be plus sized. And in those pictures she is looking smaller than that.

Honestly- no, I don't consider her to be a plus-size model. She is certainly gorgeous and I agree with you- if she is happy with her body then that is what matters most. But personally, I want to see a plus-size model wearing clothes that I could actually wear. It looks to me as if she is too small to model for any of the retailers that market to plus-size women.

a big NO!!!!!!! a plus size model has to be a minimum of a size 14 – how she looks now is hot – but NOT plus size!

well i definitly agree with the other persons here. in my opinion crystal renn isn't a plus size model at all!!! yes i do think she is really beautiful but not as a plus size model…

  • Loulou

She is lovely, and for the majority fashion world? Yeah, she is a plus size – to them.

On a side note, what happened to her lovely face? She looks positively gaunt – almost haggard. I know that's the look that's been 'in' since the Nineties, but for the love of avocado, someone put a model on the catwalk who doesn't have cheekbones I could slice cheddar on!

  • Alexisaurus

They contoured the hell out of her face to make her look gaunt. I do not consider her a plus size model at all. She is pretty though, I think. Haha

Honestly, no I do not consider her a plus size model. Compared to other models, she may not be as small but in my opinion she is no longer plus size. She has definitely lost a lot of weight lately. Hopefully it was for the right reasons.

No. I use to love how she looked as a plus size model, but she looks kind of sickly in these photos. It's crazy to me that any one would think she is plus size and I don't think calling a size 10 a plus size helps us ladies that actually are. If they are fitting and modeling plus size clothes on a size 10, they are for sure not going to fit my size 20 body anything like that.

I saw another picture of her in a yellow jumpsuit today and she is looking skinnier than ever. And no one can blame it on airbrushing b/c they are runway shots. As another poster said compared to what we're used to, she looks "gaunt".

Yes she's a beautiful woman, her body looks athletic and healthy but really when you become one of the world's highest paid plus size models shouldn't you be plus size? Even by fashion standards? I don't think she falls in to even that realm anymore.

I love her but I'm tired of the mixed message.

I agree with Loulou, there's no other word to describe her face than gaunt. Oh my goodness when I look at her before and after pictures, I want to cry. Where have all those gorgeous curves gone?

Well, I dont see her as a plus sized model anymore. She looks good, but not a plus sized. I think she look better when she had more meat on her bones. You know when some people lose to much weight, well thats the case with crystal renn

Gottex’s look is Glamazon – Ursula Andrews luring 007’s attention from her yacht in St. Tropez.

I was at this show and these pictures don't show how small she really is. She was not a plus model in the show. She appeared to be the same size as the rest of the girls, just a little on the flabby side. I keep thinking "wow, that model is really jiggly", now I know why!

  • Ella

No way. She is muscular, thin and much skinnier than I am at a size 10. I'm petite but "fat" and my retail size is smaller than I look. (OK well most of my fat is in my stomach and thighs, and I try to hide my stomach but still show off my thigh curves, even though I love my thighs still I'd consider myself fat just from my big belly.)

If I'm getting down on myself publicly it's because it's things like this, this model, this show, that hurt others – and me.

Gaunt? I don't know, but I don't think her face is even pretty right here. The comments must be based on memory.

I don't think she is plus-size anymore. I think she has lost some of the extra-weight that made her famous as a plus-size model before and if she's healthy and happy than that's good. And I still think that even is she is thinner, using her as a model they still make a statement saying they are appealing not only to skinny girls and I think all steps toward acceptance of all bodies in the fashion world are good, even if they are small steps.
