Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?

My favorite fashion designer is Phillip Lim. I’ll be honest in that I don’t really follow designers all that much (mostly because I don’t have the budget to buy their clothes), but I do flip through various fashion magazines each month, and every time I like a piece and I look in the sidebar to see who it’s made by, it’s Phillip Lim. I think he just has a great mixture of amazing cuts, classic styles, sleekness and a little big of edge.

What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?

I can not live without shoes! I’m like the sister in “In My Sister’s Shoes” that buys shoes and doesn’t wear them a lot, but keeps them in her closet “just in case.” Well, I have that problem. :)

If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?

Good question.. I never thought about creating a beauty product, mostly because I can find whatever I want out there pretty much. I guess sometimes though, I can’t find the exact nail color I’m looking for, so it would be interesting to design colors for a nail polish company and develop a polish that tries SUPER fast!

If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?

light weight, cotton knee length cami dress, with a pair of simple sandals or flats, a cardigan or light weight linen jacket (for if it gets cold), and a pair of sunglasses for Seneca Lake near Watkins, Glen NY.

Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?

Don’t be afraid to try something new and different. It’s always great to have a distinct style, but I find the most fun in trying something new for a day. Fashion is a great way to express yourself because sometimes you feel like a little bit country, and sometimes you feel a little bit rock n’ roll. Fashion is the easiest way to try on a new you!

I was flipping through the pages of this month’s issue of Harper’s Bazaar and I came across the “Rules of Summer.” You know…the things you should be wearing this summer, according to HB. They listed “12 Easy Updates,” which include leather shorts and a white blazer.

I am so down for the white blazer, I think it would look great with almost anything. Very versatile. Shorts and a tank, a pair of jeans, or a summer dress would all look very chic. And it’s probably really easy to find one at a thrift or vintage store (sorry the brain is always on bargainista mode). This one below is by J.Jill.

Hmmm…I like the idea of leather shorts…but it doesn’t seem very practical when you live in L.A. where the temperature can reach into the 100’s during the summer. But, then I think, they look kinda cute. (FYI…these are by Juicy Couture and they are available up to a size 14). Then my mind starts thinking about the “what if’s?” What if they stick to my legs when it’s hot…or they make me sweat? Am I thinking too much into this?

What do you think?

Kate & Louis Vuitton

Killer Inside Me Hits NYC

Love Love Love this Louis Vuitton poncho that Kate Hudson is wearing! She wore it to the Killer Inside Me premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, over her Louis Vuitton dress. Oh, the tedious lives celebrities live…….{I’m being sarcastic btw!}

Handbag Delight:: Straw & Woven

I am so ready for beach, sun, and fun! FYI…that’s the first thing I think of when I see a straw handbag. Of course, that’s not the only place to carry one of these cute bags. Oh…I really love the three bags below…they’re my fave.

Summer Trends: The White Dress

Keep yourself cool this summer with a chic white dress. The thing I love the most about this trend is you can definitely mix it up! It’s as easy as adding a colorful accessory, a short sleeved cardigan, flip flops, or whatever you want! Or simply just wear it by itself. It’s a no-brainer. Don’t you just love easy fashion?

My golden rule: Don’t mix up different shades of white, keep it simple.

Lingerie Update: Cosabella

Remember that lingerie survey, you curvy ladies so graciously filled out for me a couple of months ago? (Thanks btw) It was for the lingerie line Cosabella. I was extremely honored that they would ask for my help in their desire to create plus-size lingerie.

Cosabella even sent me a black lace thong to review. I am definitely a comfy cotton undie girl, but this thong is now my favorite undergarment! Not only was it SEXY, but it was very comfortable. It seemed to fit in all the right places. And since their line is designed here in the U.S., but is made in Italy, you know the lace and cotton was exquisite. I felt sexy all day! Lol.

Their project is definitely under way and they are very excited to create this line. With your help of course!!

Cosabella wants to know which of their items you’d like to see in plus-size.
Just visit their site and let me know!

Shoe Fever: Dolce Vita

Dear Dolce Vita,

I love your shoes. Although, I’ve never owned a pair, I fall in love every time I see a pair and try them on. I just want you to know that if I ever come across a couple of hundred dollars, I will buy these three pairs above. They would probably make my feet melt, because they are so HOT!

Thank you. Read more

Curvy Girl Chic

Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?

It may be incredibly mainstream, but I absolutely love the house of Chanel. Everything from that design house is feminine but powerful, chic but timeless, and always impossibly stylish. Even though Karl Lagerfeld spoke unpleasantly about plus size women, it cannot be denied that his work is brilliant and that he possesses an amazing eye for designs that will remain stylish for centuries. It also doesn’t hurt that everything that comes out of his mouth is effing hilarious! Love his sharp little witticisms.

What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?

My bags!! I’m the type of person to carry my life around with me (wallet, keys, cell phone, chapstick, camera, sunnies, umbrella, etc…), so a great bag is a must! I just purchased a huge Vince Camuto bag (complete with buttery soft leather, chain and leather fringe accents, and an oh-so-convenient cross body strap! I was in love the minute I saw it! :)

If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?

Insta-Chub-Away! It would be the miracle cream that would make all those annoying little bumps that make clingy clothing look bad go away…it would be like shapewear but without the discomfort and unsexiness! 😀

If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?

Seriously?! Just packing for my weeklong trip home took me over 6 hours, lol! I’m definitely the kind of person to try and shove my entire closet into my luggage…I also absolutely need to weigh my luggage before I finish since I’m always over airline baggage allowances! But I guess if I were to pack for a fashion extravaganza without any time, I would shove my dark wash skinny jeans, a big bag (prob my Vince Camuto one), a chic black blazer, various fun tops (glittery, chain, and floral, most likely), and black ankle boots into my luggage! I’d also throw in a couple hot little dresses and a flashy little clutch for dressier outings—you never know when you might need to get a little jazzed up!

Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?

My fashion philosophy is to always wear what you love!! People are always getting a kick out of telling other people what to wear or what is “flattering” on them. In my humble opinion, that person’s opinion isn’t worth a damn! After all, what makes them so worthy of telling you what to wear? As long as you LOVE how you look and what you’ve got on, people will be able to pick that confidence up and you’ll look awesome to them regardless of a lot of other things! Also, when in doubt, go with black. Black will always be the new black.

Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash

It was all about shopping, gift bags, complimentary spa services, and cocktails at the Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash! Held at the Peterson Automotive Museum here in Los Angeles, I had a chance to finally meet Cid from Cid’s Style File. FYI…she’s awesome!

I not only got a few freebies from sponsors like Chevy, Pixi, and Burke Williams, but I also picked up a Chillers T-Shirt for $10 and makeup from Pixi for only $5. I even got a free bra fitting from Frederick’s of Hollywood and a Buy One Get One Free coupon for one of their sexy bras.

With discounts up to 80%, there was clothing, jewelry, shoes, makeup, accessories, and handbags to choose from. There wasn’t much to choose from for us curvy chicks, but I think with a little urging maybe we can get a few plus-size designers out there for the next event. Maybe? I didn’t get to take the new Chevy Camaro for a spin either, but I did get to check it out and let me tell you, that is my next car for sure! It’s HOT!

If you are a self-proclaimed shopaholic then you need to get out to their next event. They hold them in L.A., San Francisco, New York, San Diego, and Las Vegas. Go here for dates.
